KNT'S FRONT ENGINE 1/4 MILE BEETLE

A BREIF BACKGROUND
The KNT Beetle has been an ongoing and everchanging project. We purchased a bare rolling chassis with shell from a guy in Windsor Ont. that was set up for a front engine install. The front engine setup would allow for the use of a mustang tranny and a ford 9" rear end. This seemed to be the answer to our prayers as our previous car was plagued with broken transaxles, cv's , axle shafts etc. We built up a shortend axle with 9" rear end and installed a 6:35 locked diff. Next was to mount the 5-speed mustang tranny in the car and make up an adapter to mate the beetle engine to the transmission. A hybrid clutch disc had to be made using the beetle disc and mustang hub. As you can see from the top right picture, this isn't your run of the mill beetle engine.
MORE ON THE ENGINE
The engine block is a modified beetle case which has been clearanced to accept the 82mm stroke forged counterwheighted Bugpack crank. Bugpack E40340 chromolly H-beam rods and 94mm Wiseco pistons in Mahle cylinders. So far pretty standard race stuff. We chose meaty Bugpack Superflow heads which steve ported and installed 48X38mm valves. As you can see by the pics below, its a pretty tight fit.
